Half Yearly General Meeting. Tonnage £2108 12s 5½d. Balance after wages, etc, £1784 11s 7½d. Dividend of £8 declared.
Proposed dock at Framilode can’t be made without serious inconvenience to the navigation because of lack of space.
As byelaw respecting the navigating of vessels with sails sometimes inconveniences barge owners, it is rescinded. But from 1 May next nobody shall be allowed to navigate a barge with a sail hoisted within the distance of one hundred yards from any bridge or lock. Any person so offending shall forfeit for each offence the sum of £5.
Whereas serious inconveniences have arisen to people by leaving open the swivel bridges, any person who wilfully or negligently leaves open any bridge shall, for every offence, forfeit the sum of £5.
Agreed to sell a small piece of land near the Ryeford, 12 yards long and 11 yards wide at one end and 5 yards at the other, to Richard Franklin at the price £10.

At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroud water Navigation held at the George Inn Stroud on Thursday rhe 12^th April 1808
Sam^l Wathen Esq^r in the Chair,
The Minutes of the last General Meeting were Read and Confirmed
The several Books and Accounts were produced respecting the Affairs of the Company as directed by the Act of Parliament, examined and Confirmed.
It appears by the Accounts that the Sum of £2108..12^s..5½^d has been received for Tonnage from 13^th of October last to this day, a part of which has been applied towards the payments of Wages, Disbursements etc., there remains in the Treasurers hands, after paying the last Dividend, and the Sum of £100 Property Tax, the Sum of £1784..11^s.. 7½^d. Ordered that a Dividend of £8.. on each Share be paid by the Treasurer on the 2^nd day of May next, and and that our Clerk do transmit Circular Letters to all the Proprietors to inform them they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for payment of the same. The Committee reported that in compliance with the order of the last General Meeting they had examined the situation of the land at Framiload and their opinion is that for want of sufficient space the proposed dock cannot be made without serious inconvenience to the Navigation.. Whereas it appears to this Meeting that the Bye Law made the fourteenth day of April 1801 respecting the navigating Vessels with sails is sometimes productive of inconvenience and hindrance to Barge owners. It is therefore here by rescinded, and it is now Resolved that from and after the first day of May next, no person or persons shall be allowed to navigate any Barge or Barges on the Stroud water Navigation with a sail or sails hoisted within the distance of one hundred Yards from any bridge or lock on the said Navigation. And it is hereby Resolved that if any person or persons shall be convicted of any Offence or Offences against this Regulation such person or persons so offending shall forfeit and pay for each Offence the sum of Five pounds to be recovered as the Law directs. And We do hereby order and direct that a Copy of this our Resolution be made out, and our Common Seal affixed there to, and that the same be recorded as a Bye Law amongst our proceedings for regulating the Stroud water Navigation. Where as it has been represented to this Meeting that serious inconveniences have arrisen to Sundry persons by the leaving open the swivel bridges on the Stroud water Navigation by persons navigating barges on the same. It is hereby resolved that from and after the first day of May next any person or persons who shall wilfully or negligently leave open any swivel bridge or bridges on the Stroud water Navigation, shall for every such offence forfeit and pay the sum of Five pounds to be recovered as the Law directs And We do hereby order and direct that a Copy of this our Resolution be made out and our Common Seal affixed thereto and the same be recorded as a Bye Law amongst our proceedings for regulating the Stroud water Navigation. Agreed to Sell a small piece of Land near the Ryeford 12 Yards long by 11 Yards wide at one end and 5 Yards at the other to Richard Franklin at the price of Ten Pounds. Ordered that the Seal of the Company be affixed to a Conveyance of the said piece of Land to the said Rich^d Franklin
