G Nurse declined to have his name used in action re the proposed legal proceedings against the Midland Railway for taking expensive tolls from the Stonehouse Wharf to Nailsworth. In order to be in a position to try the question the Company should purchase coals and have them carried and pay the tonnage under protest.
Joseph Cottle reported that John Clark, the person lately fined for lifting a paddle, had brought an action against him for slander. This stated that Clark kept a false key to draw the water at the Feeder into the Lodgemore Level which Cottle denies. Mr Kearsey, our attorney, to defend the action at the cost of the Company.
Wallbridge Wharf to be let by tender from Christmas next and be advertised.
Committee empowered for dealing with the tonnages to also let Dudbridge Wharf.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 17^th day of December 1867
Present: M^r J C Hallewell, W W Kearsey Chairman, F S Thornton, C H Fisher, G H A Beard, T Marling, T M Croome.
M^r John Pleydell Wilton of the City of Gloucester Gentleman attended on behalf of himself and George Pleydell Wilton and Francis Wilton also of the same City Gentlemen Executors under the Will of the late John William Wilton also of the same City Gentleman and made out their Claim (subject to the production of a Certificate of the burial of Thomas Turner here inafter mentioned) to two Shares numbered respectively 183 & 194 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the names of the said John William Wilton and Thomas Turner Esq^r deceased as Executors of Henty Sikes in the books of Company of Proprietors of the said Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said John William Wilton deceased bearing date the 10^th day of March 1851 and proved in the District Registry attached to her Majesty's Court of Probate at Gloucester on the 25^th day of June 1867 by the said John Pleydell Wilton, George Pleydell Wilton and Francis Wilton and also producing the Tickets or Titles of the said Shares and the Claim of the said JP Wilton, G P Wilton and F Wilton was admitted accordingly and new Tickets ordered to be made out.
G Nurse having declined to have his name used in the proposed legal proceedings against the Midland Railway for taking excessive tolls from the Stonehouse Wharf to Nailsworth, Resolved that in order to be in a position to try the question this Company purchase Coals and have them carried and pay the Tonnage under protest.
Jos^h Cottle having reported that John Clark the person lately fined for lifting a Paddle had brought an Action against him for Slander in stating that Clark kept a false Key to draw the Water at the Feeder into the Lodgemore Level which J Cottle denies having done,
Resolved that M^r Kearsey the Attorney of this Company defend the Action at the cost of the Company.
Resolved that the Warehouse at Wallbridge Wharf be let by Tender from Christmas next and be advertised.
Resolved that the Committee dealing with the Tonnages be also empowered to let Dudbridge Wharf.
