Thames & Severn Canal Cos "Railway Scheme"
[52] Proposed by Mr Stanton and seconded by Mr T M Croome that steps be taken to oppose the Thames & Severn Canal Bill in Parliament during the forthcoming Session and that such opposition be entrusted to a Sub-committee to consist of the following Gentlemen "viz": The Chairman, Mr Hooper, Mr Little, Mr Mills and Mr Croome, it being an instruction to such sub committee to join other companies or individuals in their opposition if so doing appears likely to lessen the expenses and even at the risk of faltering the individual action of this Company.
Any three form a quorum and have power to act.
The sub committee not to expend more than £300 without further authority.
[38] A further application was made by Messrs Ford Brothers for a reduction of tonnage.
The Clerk was instructed to inform them that the Committee could not depart from their Resolution passed on the 25^th day of October last.
[36] The question of the Gas Cos rent was further considered and it was thought better not to insist on the terms of the Resolution of the 16^th August last, but for the present to fall back upon the Resolution of the 21^st March 1865. Resolved accordingly, it being understood that the repairs of the Towing path be promptly and efficiently completed by the Gas Company and to the satisfaction of the Canal Company's Surveyor.
