Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 21^st day of March 1899 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper Chairman, Mr H Hamilton Mills Solicitor, Mr W Davies, Mr W J Stanton, Sir W H Marling Bart.
Ordered that the Half-Yearly Meeting be held on Tuesday teh 25^th day of April next at 3.30pm.
The Clerk reported the repair of the towing path at Framilode. Certain repairs were ordered to strengthen the stop-gates there, which are important safeguards in times of flood. A proposal from the Parish Council of Saul to contribute £3 towards extending a protecting bank by the side of the Canal, was accepted, and the work ordered.
The National Telephone Company had paid the £2 for damage to trees at Ryeford.
A gratuity of Two pounds was agreed to, in respect of the application of William Clark on his leaving the Company's service.
The notice to George Taylor to quit his house, at Eastington, had been withdrawn with the Chairman's sanction, on his paying two months out of the three due.
The Clerk reported having inspected the House at Eastington Wharf and found a faulty arrangement of the rainwater guttering to be the cause of wet coming through. The attention of this had been ordered. The completion of all the repairs here to be done at once.
The Clerk reported the piling of the Canal Bank at the Gas Works, in hand, the sound planks of the old Mud Boat being utilised.
Mr Thomas Clark having asked what sum the Company would accept on discharge of his obligation to repair the Weigh-Bridge at Eastington in view of the reserve for ' Wear & tear' in his Agreement, it was decided to accept £4 (the full outlay having been £5..2..11).
