Summary

Severn and Canal Carrying Co wrote asking if Navigation had asked for financial help in keeping canal open for coal traffic from Ministry of Transport. Chairman to settle a letter to be sent to the Canal Association.
Messrs Butler and Company using power barge to take tar from Gas Works to Gloucester. Asked Company to dredge by old swing bridge and next to the saw mills at Ebley. Estimated cost £48 for 4 men over 6 weeks. Suggested that Gas Co might be asked to help with costs. Matter referred to Canal Association.
Mr Wiggall enquired about letting part of Dudbridge Wharf as a fairground. Clerk to offer warehouse as well as land wanted.

[1937 April] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 21^st day of April 1937 @ 4 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, Marcus Stewart.
There being only three Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Redler Patents, Gate in the Foundry Pound at Dudbridge
Agreement completed.
Dock House at Eastington, Repairs
Repair had been held over.
Double Lock Cottages, Repair
The Clerk reported that the work had been carried out.
Canal, Severn & Canal Carrying C^o
A letter was read from the Carrying Company enquiring if any steps had been taken to improve the waterway or alternatively whether the Navigation had taken this up with the Government for financial help bearing in mind the prospects of Coal traffic for the Canal being more favourable than they were sometime ago, and suggested that should the Navigation wish to take up the matter directly with the Minister of Transport that it be done through the Canal Association. After discussion the Chairman undertook to settle a letter for the Clerk to send to the Canal Association.
Canal, Messrs Butler & Coy
The Clerk reported that Messrs Butlery & Company were now using a power barge to take tar to Gloucester from the Stroud Gas Works and that Messrs Butler had telephoned asking for some dredging to be done at the old Swing Bridge at and next the Saw Mills at Ebley where silt & sand had drained into the Canal. It was estimated that the cost, for two extra men, for six weeks dredging would be £24, the total estimated cost, for the four men required, for six weeks dredging £48..-.
It was mentioned that the Gas C^o might be asked to help financially, but that in the meantime the request should also be reported to the Canal Association.
Dudbridge Wharf House & premises
The Clerk reported that M^r Perks the tenant had given notice of his intention to quit the premises on 29^th September next. The Clerk was instructed to see Mr S J Summers who had applied for the premises and also to see M^r Woodcock his employer, and to report to the Chairman. The matter was left to the Chairman to settle.
Dudbridge Warehouse & portion of Wharf
A letter was read from M^r Wiggall enquiring if the Company would let part of the Wharf as a fair ground. The Clerk was instructed to write and enquire how much of the Wharf he wanted and what rent he was prepared to offer for same together with the Warehouse and on what terms and conditions he was prepared to rent the Wharf as a fairground. Subject to his references being satisfactory the matter was left to the Chairman to deal with.

The Clerk was directed to press M^r Hopson for the extra £2..10.0 rent due last 25^th March.
