[1941 May] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 20^th day of May 1942 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans.
There being only three Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Gashouse Bridge, Messrs Mowlem & Coy, Damage
In accordance with Minute of last Meeting a letter had been sent to Messrs Mowlem. they had replied asking for certain particulars. The Clerk was instructed to refer them to the correspondence in April 1941.
Hoffman's, Gloucester, Ltd, Pipe at Stonehouse
The Clerk was instructed to enquire of Messrs Hoffman whether they had commenced to draw water from the Canal and the date.
Wallbridge Wharf, Trespass M^r Hopson
The Chairman read a letter from the County Surveyor. After discussion it was proposed that M^r Hopson should be asked to give and estimate & the Chairman undertook to settle a letter for the Clerk to send to the County Surveyor.
Canal at Eastington, Lockkeeper
The Chairman read a letter from Miss White. The Committee decided that Mrs White be notified that she would be allowed to remain in the house until Saturday the 13^th June but if vacant possession is not given on that date they will have to take such action to obtain it as they may be advised. The Chairman to settle letter.
Mr F W Daniels, Pleasure Boat on Canal
The Clerk reported that he had been in communication with Mr Daniels who would get into touch with the Committee later.
Saul Bridge, South Gloucestershire Internal Drainage Board
It was reported that the Drainage Board had paid £14..- in settlement of the Company's claim for damage done to the bridge by the Board. The Cheque had been paid into the Company's A/c, at Lloyd's Bank Ltd, at Stroud.
Navy League - Sea Cadet Corps
I reference to a written application permission was granted to the Corps to use the basin at Wallbridge, and to take a boat to the Junction at Saul provided no Bridges or Locks were worked.
Dudbridge Wharf, Stroud U D Council, Messrs Jackson's Lease
The Chairman read a letter from Messrs Jackson's. The Committee directed that Messrs Jackson's be informed that as the Lease does not expire until 24^th January 1943 the Committee cannot very well approach the Council who should pay the rent to them.
Stroud District Water Board, Proposed pipe line in towing path at Stonehouse
The Chairman reported progress.
Canal at Dudbridge, Cultivation of Lockside at Dudbridge Lock
The Committee decided to allow M^r Dolphin to occupy and cultivate the Lockside now held by Bassett at Dudbridge for one year from the 21^st May 1942 on payment of 1/- rent in advance.
