Summary

Special Meeting. Mr W Southern of Gloucester has crane capable of raising 7 tons, price £100. Mr Holbrow to purchase it for use of canal.
Mr Basham, contractor, proposal to remove mud and silt from bason of canal above first lock at Framilode for £15 accepted.
Mr Cosham, Mr Eycott and Mr Wood to inspect canal and ascertain where there are accumulations of mud and silt and have them removed.
Mr Holbrow to purchase 8 baulks, 20 feet long, of Memel timber from Gloucester for balance poles, one for lower gates at Framilode and one for upper gates at Five Locks.
Piece of oak to be procured from Mr John Dimock for new breast for one of upper gates.
New lower gate to be kept in store to replace that put in lately at Dudbridge Lock. Price from Mr John George for suitable oak timber.
If Mr George uses a barge in his Gloucester trade, tonnage on weight of goods carried. If he uses a Worcester or vessel of that description, charges for each up and down voyage on 20 tons at least. Drawback to be allowed Mr George on all coals brought by him up canal and landed at Dudbridge wharf if sent on beyond Tetbury of 6d per ton.
Mr Cosham and Mr Joseph Fisher to arrange letting Mr George the garden near the Anchor Inn as wharf for landing goods.

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Monday the 9^th day of May 1836
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r Holbrow, M^r Jos Fisher, D^r Darke, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Wyatt, M^r S Fisher, M^r F Eycott, M^r T C Croome. M^r Wood.
M^r Holbrow having reported (in pursuance of the minutes of the Committee of the 20^th ult^o) that M^r Southern of Gloucester has a Crane to dispose of, capable of raising seven tons, price £100 -
Ordered that M^r Holbrow do purchase the same for the use of our Canal.
M^r Basham, the Contractor, having proposed to remove the Mud and silt form the Bason of the Canal, above the first lock, at Framilode for thesum of £15.0.0,
Ordered that his offer be accepted; and that he do proceed to remove the same when the usual annual stoppage of the Canal shall next take place; the same to be completed during the time of the stoppage.
Ordered that the following Gentlemen (viz: M^r Cosham, M^r Eycott & M^r Wood) be a Sub-Committee to inspect the Canal, and ascertain at what places there are any accumulations of Mud and Silt in the Canal; and to procure the same to be removed at the next usual stoppage of the canal.
Ordered that 8 Baulks, each 20 feet long, of Memel Timber, be provided for Balance poles to one of the Lower Gates at Framilode, and one of the Upper Gates at the Five Locks; and that M^r Holbrow do purchase the same at Glouceter, to be delivered at Chippenham plat, on the Canal in the course of the present week. ~~ And that a piece of Oak be procured of M^r John Dimock for a new breast of one of the Upper Gates.
Ordered that a new Lower Gate be prepared to be kept in Store in the Room of that put in lately at Dudbridge Lock. And that our Clerk do ascertain of M^r John George the price at which he will furnish Oak Timber suitable for that purpose.
The letter from M^r John George referred to in the Minutes of the 20^th April last having been again read:-
Ordered, if M^r George shall use a Barge in his Gloucester Trade, that Tonnage shall be charged on the weight of Goods carried (and no more) on each voyage up _or_ down - But if he shall use a Worster, or a Vessell of that description, - Then that he shall be charged for each up _and_ down voyage (both inclusive) Tonnage on twenty Tons at the least, and for any greater weight beside.
That a drawback be allowed to M^r Geogre on all such Coals brought by him up the Canal and landed at Dudbridge Wharf, as shall be afterwards sent to or beyond Tetbury - of Sixpence per Ton.
Ordered that M^r Cosham and M^r Joseph Fisher be a Sub-Committee to meet M^r George and arrange about letting him the Garden near the Anchor Inn, as Wharf for landing his Goods.
