Summary

Special Meeting. Application by Clerk of Gloucester & Berkeley Canal Co. to Mr Hawker to allow timber purchased by them of Mr John Dimock, about 3000 cubit feet of beech, to pass through Navigation free of tonnage allowed.
Penalties on masters, owners and managers of vessels incurred in violation of byelaws, giving false account of quantities on vessel, whence brought and where intended to land to be strictly enforced.
John Burbidge appointed as inspector. Salary 16s per week and house at Chippenham Platt.
William Hooper of Brimscombe appointed lock keeper at Dudbridge in room of John Burbidge. 12s per week and house.

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Thursday the 15^th September 1836
Present: M^r Samuel Fisher, M^r Jos Fisher, M^r Cosham, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Holbrow, M^r Wyatt, D^r Darke, M^r Stanton, M^r T C Croome, M^r Eycott, M^r Wood.
The Clerk of the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal C^o having applied to M^r Hawker to allow certain Timber purchased by them of M^r John Dimock (qbout 2 0r 3000 Cubit feet of Beech) to pass through the Stroudwater Navigation free of Tonnage -
Ordered That the same be allowed accordingly.
Ordered that the penalties on Masters, Owners and Managers of Vessels navigating the Canal incurred in violation of the Act of parliament or Bye-laws and particularly of neglecting or refusing to give a just account, signed by them, or giving a false account, of what Quantity of Goods shall _be_ in such Vessel, from _when_ I brought and _where_ they intend to _land_ the same, be henceforth most strictly Enforced: That instructions be given thereon to the several Clerks; and Notices of the penalties be put up in a conspicuous form for public information at proper places on the Canal.
Ordered that Joh Burbage be the Inspector directed to be appointed under the Resolution of the Committee Meeting of the 29^th August last, at a Salary of Sixteen Shillings per Week - and the House at Chippenham Platt for his residence when vacant.
Ordered that William Hooper of Brimscombe be appointed Lock keeper at Dudbridge in the room of John Burbage at the Salary of 12^s/ per Week and the House there for a residence.
