[Claim by George Wathen on behalf of Betty Clutterbuck for shares 118 and 119 deleted from minutes.]
The Order of the General Meeting held the 23^rd day of October last was to the mode of charging Tonnage on Wheat and the Resolution of the Committee at their Meeting on the 29^th of October last to suspend the opperation of that Order until the next General Meeting were read:- And the Resolution of the Committee having been founded on prepartions made by M^r Biddle to remove his trade from the Navigation in consequence of the bearing of the charge on Him; the same was taken into consideration.
From the Accounts of the Trade & Tonnage it appeared that M^r Biddles trade alone amounting to nearly or quite Six Hundred Pounds per Annum.
It therefore appeared to this Meeting desirable to avoid the loss of so large an Income; and M^r Biddle (after communication with Members of the Committee) having proposed to continue his Trade and connexion with the Navigation on condition of an allowance of 30£ per Cent to be made in the entire Tonnage paid by Him. ~~ It was considered desirable not to make any allowance whatever on the Tonnage of Coals but that the amount should be made up to M^r Biddle by an increased allowance on the Tonnage of Corn and Meal.
Resolved
That it be a recommendation to the next General Meeting of the Proprietors to recind the Resolution for altering the mode of charging the Tonnage on Wheat and to make an allowance by way of drawback after the rate of 33½ per Cant on the Tonnage on all Wheat carried on the Navigation which shall be brought into the upper level of the Navigation and carried into the Thames & Severn Canal; and an allowance by way of drawback after the rate of £27 per Cent on Tonnage of all Wheat carried on the Navigation below the short Level at Dudbridge and not above that above that place and an allowance by way of drawback after the rate of 6½ per Cent on the Tonnage of all Wheat carried on the Navigation below the double Locks and not above that place; and an allowance by way of drawback after the rate of __ per Cent on the Tonnage of all Wheat carried on the Navigation below the Bridge at Eastington and not above that place.
On a renewal of -- The application to the Company by Mess^rs Thomas & Samuel Marling for leave to introduce a pipe into the Navigation for the purpose of supplying a Pump in their new weaving Shop.
Ordered that it be referred to the Solicitor of the Company to ascertain whether the same can be done without injuring the rights of the Company.
Ordered that £3..0..0 be paid to M^r Purcell for the Trees He has planted at Framilode.
