[1920 Dec] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on the 15^th day of December @ 3.20 o'clock pm
Present: Philip Jas Evans, W R Bloxam, R J C Little. F A Little.
A letter had been received from Messrs Abdella & Mitchell Ltd enclosing a/c they had received from Joseph Bloomer & Sons for testing and partly renewing chain for Crane at Dudbridge Wharf amounting to £11.14..5 and it was agreed that the Navigation should pay £6..14..5 of this the remaining £5 to be paid by Abdella & Mitchell.
An application had been made by A O Ward & Co for permission to lay a sewage pipe under the Company's Wharf at Stonehouse for a considerable distance and the Manager was instructed to inform them that in the opinion of the Committee there was a cheaper alternative and one less obejctionable viz: by taking the sewage pipe in the other direction and passing under the Midland Railway branch line there.
Mr Snape reported that the cost of replacing the Bridge by the Gas Works would be approximately £122..10..0 half of which would fall on the Gas Company - but that this Bridge in its present form while good enough for the times in which it was built is totally unsuitable today for the heavy traffic to the Gas Works, the Sewage Works and Fromehall Mills - that a new Bridge sufficiently strong for present day traffic would cost about £350..-.
It was decided to sound the Urban District Council and the Gas Company as to whether they would each bear 1/3^rd of the cost of a new Bridge.
Lady Beauchamp, Ebley Court, had applied for permission to ride her bicycle on towpath between her house and Stonehouse but it was decided to decline to give the permission and the Chairman undertook to inform Lady Beauchamp accordingly.
The seal of the Company was affixed to the formal acceptance of the loan of £36 made by the Board of Trade on certain conditions and duly attested.
A letter had been received from S Hopson tenant of the Warehouse on Lower Wharf Stroud in which he expressed the wish to have one Agreement in place of the separate ones now running which was acceded to.
The tonnage was stated to amount to £351..17..3 to date compared with £186..4..5 last year and £220..11..1 in 1913.
Credit balance at Bank stood at £519..14..1 against £70..17..0 last year at same date and £370..8..9 in 1913.
It was Ordered that the next Committee Meeting be held on Wednesday the 26^th January 1921 @ 3.20 and the General Half Yearly Meeting on the same day @ 3.45 o'clock pm.
