General Half Yearly Meeting of Company Wednesday 3 July at 3.30 o'clock.
No objection to sump remaining. We take it you have cut off connection at the canal waterway. No flow can now pass to mill without our knowledge. Give us the name of owners of the mill premises.

Large number of insects through drought and hot weather may disappear. Similar trouble at Eastington. Use of chemical preparation would destroy fish and poison cattle. Could smell come from Council's sewage tanks at Ebley?

Re your letter 9 October. Efforts being made to repair iron and planking. Company liable to maintain bridge for ordinary traffic at time it was constructed. Present day motor traffic unsuitable. Cause of present state of bridge.
Income Tax Return of Retirement Benefit Schemes. Form sent to Company's Auditors
Proposed dam constructed. Gloucestershire County Council has suggested removal of swing bridges at Wheatenhurst (Walk Bridge) and Saul. Class 111 roads and bus routes. Fixed bridges to be erected which would prevent any traffic on waterway. This canal not scheduled to be nationalised.
Offers for cottage occupied by your father and one adjoining occupied by S Meadows will be considered.
Committee will pay £6.2.6 which Mr Hopson informs me is cost of fixing tiled grate and will contribute that amount to total cost of grate.

Re your letter 13 October. Your offer of £400 for two cottages occupied by your father and Mr S Meadows accepted. Does not include small piece of garden ground on other side of canal.
Re Bridges at Saul and Whitminster. Ministry's reply to your proposal
Copy of Ministry of Transport's reply to letter 5th November enclosed with p451. County Council's proposal that two swing bridges crossing Navigation at Wheatenhurst and Saul should be replaced by fixed bridges and the Navigation piped.
Stonehouse Slip. Re your letter 12 December. Land can be sold with vacant possession. We do not wish to retain any rights over River Frome coextensive with land you propose purchasing.
Sale of cottages at Framilode. Land on opposite side of canal not included in sale. Reasonable rent on half yearly tenancy acceptable. Perhaps you will make an offer.

Your 543/36 ECB/FM is receiving attention.
Stonehouse Slip. Proposed purchase of land. Committee not prepared to accept offer of £10. £107 paid in 1890 for whole piece. £25 for about a fifth you wish to purchase.
Our suggestion that The County Council should take over the Navigation because several bridges carrying important roads would be under Council's control. Important that waterways should not become completely derelict and a menace to health. Council enabled to pass water from old Thames & Severn Canal in times of flood. Several owners of land bordering canal agree.
Demolition of Pillboxes Whitminster to Eastington. Messrs Holbrow & Sons Tetbury have demolished Pillboxes. Payment £75 as set out in your letter 29 May.
Your offer of £1 per annum for ground on other side of canal at Framilode accepted.
Stonehouse Slip. Land can be sold with vacant possession. In our own occupation. No question of tenants' rights. Understood that you will erect fences to divide this land from the rest.
Great Western Railway does not abut on to any of our property. Enclosed notice must refer to Thames & Severn Canal.
Wards Coal Wharf at Stonehouse. Re your letter 31 December this Company does not intend to claim for compensation re this Wharf.
